Fieldnotes is a body of work shaped by travel and return. After moving through distant landscapes and crossing borders both physical and internal, Deonna Craig returns to the studio to translate what was observed.

Each piece begins with standing in place long enough to listen, then builds through grids, repeated marks, and textured surfaces that hold time, movement, and memory.

The paintings invite close looking. Layers remain visible, repetitions create rhythm, and subtle shifts in color and surface echo the sensation of moving across land: arrive, pause, carry the experience forward.

Together, the works feel both grounded and expansive. They operate as shared fieldnotes: observations gathered on the ground and brought back for the viewer, offering access to ways of seeing that extend beyond the walls of the studio.

Fieldnotes offers viewers a chance to slow down, stand with the work, and encounter paintings that continue to unfold the longer you stay.
