Join us for a FREE artist & gallery reception on the final Friday of May. This month’s featured artist is Sun-Young Gullery, presenting Bloom/Wither through the month of May.

Come up to the 2nd floor any time this month to see the show– the Christel DeHaan ArtSpace is free to attend. On May 30th, we invite you to meet the artist, explore the artwork, and enjoy free refreshments and our cashless cash bar.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sun-Young Gullery is a watercolor and ink painter inspired by Japanese aesthetics, minimalism, and traditional art. Her work explores quiet beauty, floral forms, and the subtle poetry of simplicity.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Bloom/Wither invites viewers into a contemplative space where the quiet cycles of nature unfold. In this series of watercolor and ink paintings, Sun-Young Gullery draws on the refined sensibilities of traditional Japanese ink paintings to explore the delicate threshold between blossoming and decay.

Each floral form — whether in full bloom or graceful decline — is rendered with restraint and reverence. The compositions speak to impermanence, inviting pause and presence in the face of inevitable change. Bloom/Wither honors the poetry of nature’s transitions, encouraging viewers to find beauty not only in what is flourishing, but in what is fading.

Presented on the 2nd floor of the Athenaeum, this collection is both a visual meditation and a quiet offering — an invitation to witness the subtle, ever-shifting rhythms of life.

No ticket required: join us on the 2nd floor on May 30th, 6-8PM. Come as you are!
